Description
Plastic straw bans are now a global movement with consumers becoming aware of the negative impact that they have on ocean ecosystems and how they contribute massive amounts to landfill. Plastic straws are among the top 10 debris items and 44% of all seabirds and mammals have ingested plastic.
After their useful life of about 20 minutes, plastic straws are discarded – ending up in landfill, at best, or usually, in our oceans, where they are ingested by marine life causing plastic to make its way up the food chain. In fact, plastic never completely breaks down but rather just becomes smaller and smaller. Think about this: every single piece of plastic you’ve ever used in your life still exists and will outlive your children’s, children’s, children.
What to do for those times when consumers prefer to use a straw and a reusable straw is not an option? Choose BioStraws – 100% carbon neutral and the only FSC™(License code FSC C110879) certified paper straws in Australia and New Zealand.
Not all paper straws are created equal! Some paper straws feature a plastic lining, which means they end up in landfill instead of recycling or compost, and others are made from virgin pulp instead of sustainably sourced FSC™ certified paper.
Our compostable and recyclable paper straws do not have any coating. We use premium, extra strength 3-ply paper to ensure the straws maintain their integrity while being used. The total paper weight of the three layers is 350gsm (135gsm + 135gsm + 80gsm).
Available in three sizes – Cocktail (4.5x120mm), Regular (6x197mm) and Jumbo (10x197mm) – and two types – straight (standard straws) and bendy (flexible drinking straws).
The regular paper straw now comes individually wrapped and help avoid the spread of germs while providing customers with a hygienic way to enjoy their drinks.
Our cool drinking straws come in a variety of colours and in Art Series designs. Want to customise your drinking straw? Ask us about custom paper straws.
